Kanawa is the closing stop and the reason this beats the standard three-stop combo sold elsewhere: it sits outside the busiest boat lanes, its house reef starts about 30 metres off the beach, and it gets the longest single block of the day.

Putting Padar first is deliberate: the hike is far more comfortable before 09:00, and it puts the longest open-water leg on the day’s calmer morning water. Kanawa last means the final memory is unhurried reef time, with the shortest crossing home afterwards.

Kanawa Island vs Padar Island – which is better for a 1 day Komodo tour?
If you want the classic postcard view, Padar wins: it’s a short but steep hike to a ridge overlooking three bays, and it only really “works” in person. Kanawa Island is different: a long, easy drift over a house reef, beach time and shallow water. This combined day with Pink Beach and Padar is built so you do not have to choose: you climb first, then finish in the water.
Is Kanawa suitable for small children, and what helps when bringing a toddler to the beach?
Kanawa's main white-sand beach is gently shelving with usually calm water, so toddlers can paddle under close supervision. Shade is limited; bring a hat, rash guard and your own small umbrella if you have one. Pack snacks your child will actually eat, plus more drinking water than you think you need. A soft carrier is safer than a stroller on sand and for boat transfers.
